Before you launch headlong into using social media to promote your business, spend some time planning what to do, where to do it and what you want to achieve from it. When putting together a social media and content strategy, the single most important task is to establish which platforms and services are most useful for your needs and plan your approach accordingly. Any Social Media Manager worth their salt will have a strong planning process in place. If they don’t, ask them about it. If they can’t answer you, run as fast as you can! There are numerous social platforms and websites out there.
Your blueprint will define who you interact with and what message you intend them to receive. The brand you have already developed offline, needs to be continued in the online space, followed by defining your target market and the message you want to share. Consider carefully how your social networking will integrate with your offline, more traditional advertising.
Many people think the two are separate but they can, and should, be integrated for maximum effect.
